Exedy Clutch 15803. Will it stand up to to the power!?

Hey!... Welcome to the another #modmonday! This week we will feature the clutch that resides within the STi with it's stage 2+ mods. The #Exedy stage 1 clutch PN 15083 for 04+ STis. Installation was 5 years ago and it now has 22k miles of trouble free use on it.

Choosing a clutch can be quite a task... given your plans for the future of your car can have a great impact on it. With that in mind I decided on the Exedy stage 1 clutch given it's slight improvements over stock but stock like feel to the clutch pedal. As you can never find the original Subaru clutch specs Exedy states a 40% additional clamping force to keep the power flowing through the transmission.

Included in the kit is a new ultra fiber clutch disc, pressure plate with higher strength fingers, throwout bearing, alignment tool and pilot bearing for the flywheel. They are the Oem clutch supplier for all 6 Japanese car manufacturers and also their factory race teams. Which gives them a great catalog from Oem replacements to the highest torque race clutches.

On a day to day driving it feels very predictable and easy to drive just like the Oem unit it replaced, making over 22k miles over the last five years. It has withstood the abuse of two nights at the drag strip with abusive 6k rpms drops. Five years of autocrossing with high rpms launches and many shifts along the course.

If you are looking for anything under 350 ft lbs of torque I believe this to be a very excellent unit that has no drawbacks during any of the above mentioned activities. If you have loftier power goals they have a HD version and also many more stages to check out and find what fits your build!

Also included in the kit comes this awesome sticker sheet! Not sure who decided to include them but they are awesome especially the little clutch cartoon character and decked out blobeye Sti.

Installing the clutch I utilized the no lift driveway method. Where you do not pull the transmission or engine and just pull the engine forward and trans backwards. This allows for a much quicker and easier installation.
