07-08 Forester sports bumper! Completing the sports transformation!
Hey!... Welcome to another #modmonday where I give you my take on an installed part on one of my Subarus. Today we will look at the Forester sports front bumper for 06-08 Foresters.
When I purchased my Forester I had always desired the 07-08 Forester Sports version. With amazing performance and looks it is really one of the greatest gifts Subaru of America has given us. Given the rarity and price tag I knew I would not be buying one.
As the years have gone by I have loved my Forester and saw fit to adding a few other Sports upgrades, but due to my build I was always town on the front bumper. It sits a bout an inch lower than the standard bumper and forgoes the fog lights with aggressive vents.
After 4 years of ownership I caved to my wants and decided to give the Sports bumper a try and I really love how it changed the look of the Fxt. Even in an lifted build it still gives the car great presence and works especially well with my JDM STI scoop and Euro flares.
The fog lights were the hardest thing to give up, but I hope to remedy that in the spring with a home made setup. Otherwise the minimum maintenance roads I typically drive haven't made the bumper a hindrance to my build. I had many plans for doing a chopped front bumper, but the cutting would have removed the fog lights… which is the main benefit the standard bumper has.
For those curious about fitment it is bolt on affair. The bumper lines up with the headlights, grill and fenders. You won’t need to make any modifications to make it fit. The only noteworthy difference is the bumper being just a bit wider and longer than the factory unit, this causes the factory fender liners to not line up. This isn’t too hard to fix by cutting your pieces of material, using some creative zip ties or if you want it like it came from the factory you can order the sports liners. The other mounting locations for them are exactly the same.
I honestly love each bumper for different reasons, but when it came down to it I knew I would be kicking myself for not giving the Sports bumper a try. Which bumper do you have and what makes it the best in your mind?
