2" Lift spacers! By the one and only Anderson Design Fab!
Hey!.. Welcome to another #modmonday! Where we take one part of one of my Subarus and delve into what makes it work! Today we will go into the lift kit that holds my Forester up, @Anderson_design_fabrications 2" Forester lift kit and rear trailing arm spacers. These have been installed for over 3 years and are still going strong.
After purchasing my Forester I pondered what to do with it. It had such a cool safari wagon vibe to it, that I really wanted to further that look. Browsing through the forums I found the build page of Patrick's lifted Forester and knew what would soon come.
I went ahead and went with a 2" lift as I thought 1" was just not enough of a move. Utilizing the trailing arm spacers to keep the rear tires centered. With a lift like this the built in caster/camber offset gets the wheels back into the alignment specs. With the alignment angles in check your car will handle properly and not burn through tires.
Installation is very straightforward, just remove your struts, place the new spacer on the top hat and reinstall. The rear trailing arm needs to be unbolted and shifted down, then you can install it and be finished! A quick drive to your favorite shop for alignment and you will be good to go.
At two inches of lift you will likely find yourself where I was, my older cv axle boots blew out and required replacement. Which Patrick let me know that the A1 cardone HD axles would get me back on the road without any concerns.
After all the years of service I haven't had any issues with my lift spacers. I removed them a little over a year to replace the struts and everything was just as I had left it. I have found a few spots where the powder coating has come off but otherwise they are just like new.
I have always recommended to anyone that asked me about my lifted Subaru and will continue to do so! They have grown plenty since I first purchased from them but continue to innovate and be a great entity within the Subaru community!
